The
inaugural season for new
promoter Bill Davis, Jr. and
the Stuart Speedway in Stuart,
Iowa concluded on Sunday,
September 23 with the crowning
of track champions in the IMCA
Hobby Stock, IMCA Stock Car,
IMCA Sport Mod and IMCA
Modified divisions.
Mike Hansen of Exira and Marcus Fagan of Adair claimed heat race wins in the IMCA Hobby Stocks. Point leaders Bryan Snell of Coon Rapids and Shannon Anderson of Atlantic earned front-row starting positions in the season championship A-main by virtue of their point standings. Anderson took the lead on lap one and never looked back, picking up the feature win. Bryan Snell’s second place finish was enough to earn him the title of 2007 IMCA Hobby Stock Track Champion for the Stuart Speedway. Shannon Anderson finished second, just three points behind. The point battle in the IMCA Hobby Stock division was close all season long, with Adam Bonnett of Norwalk finishing just 14 points behind Snell in third. The IMCA Stock Cars once again put on a tremendous show for the fans. Cory Adams of West Des Moines, Jay Cain of Waukee and Steve Campbell of Des Moines took the checkers in their heat races. Mike Nichols of Harlan and Brian Blessington of Breda paced the field for the season championship feature event. Blessington lead all 20 laps of the A Main, with Mike Pruitt of Redfield second, Jamie Morey of Earlham, third and David Smith of Lake City rounding out the top four. Mike Nichols came home in fifth, and claimed the 2007 Track Championship for the IMCA Stock Cars. Josh May of DeSoto and Jack Myer of Ankeny picked up heat race wins in the IMCA Sport Mod division, with Joel Bushore of Boone taking home the hardware in the trophy dash. Point leaders Jimmy May of DeSoto and Dammon Frommelt of Boone led the field to the green in the season championship A Main. Frommelt jumped to the early lead under hot pursuit from Austin Kaplan of Ankeny, Jimmy May and Josh May. Frommelt held the lead until lap 12 of the 15-lap event when Kaplan made the pass and went on to claim the feature win. Josh May came home second, with Dammon Frommelt third and Jimmy May fourth. Jimmy May was crowned 2007 IMCA Sport Mod Track Champion for the Stuart Speedway. Josh Gilman of Earlham and Jimmy Gustin of Marshalltown dueled it out from start to finish in the IMCA Modified season championship feature event. Gustin grabbed the early lead, but Gilman remained in hot pursuit and was not to be denied as he made the pass on lap 18 and went on to claim his second feature win of the season at Stuart. Ryan Gyles of West Des Moines came from his last row starting position to finish third, and Chris Pruitt of Stuart rounded out the top four. Jimmy Gustin captured the 2007 IMCA Modified Track Championship over Rex Parkison of Earlham who retired early with mechanical problems. Heat race winners were Bobby Bowman of Winterset, Terry Pruitt of Redfield, and Chris Pruitt. The Speedway welcomed the Micro Sprints for an evening of exhibition racing. Six cars competed in a 15-lap event, with Nick Clifford of Omaha, Nebraska the winner.
