Griffin, Embrey, Hansen, Gilman, Ganoe and Musselman Pick up Wins on Gettler Dairy Farms Night at the Races
Story by Josh Reynolds
Stuart, Iowa (June 20) – After a week off due to mother nature, race cars once again took to the Stuart Speedway for a wild night of racing. Josh Gilman, Kenny Hansen, Curt Ganoe and Taylor Griffin all picked up their second wins of the season while Jeremy Embrey and Taylor Musselman netted their first of the season.
IMCA Sport Compacts would grace the stage first with Jacob Peters on the pole. David Archibald led the first six laps and looked poised to pick up his fourth win of the year. However, it was not to be as Taylor Griffin passed Archibald on a restart and held on for the win. Archibald was second followed by Peters and Garrett Nelson.
IMCA Northern Sportmods were next on the track with pole sitter Jamie Schirm leading the way for the first seven of the scheduled fifteen laps. He could not hold off eighth-starting Jeremy Embrey, who would go on to lead the last eight laps en route to the feature win. Following Embrey at the line was twelfth-starting Mike Pruitt, Clinton Luellen, Schirm, and David Schlicht.
For the first three-quarters of the IMCA Stock Car feature it appeared to be the Jeremy Gettler show as he led the first seventeen laps. After a caution for debris brought the field back together, Gettler, Kenny Hansen and Cory Bushnell put on a three-wide battle for the lead until Gettler’s engine expired. Bushnell retired to the pits after contact with Marcus Fagan leaving Hansen the race leader. Hansen had his hands full with Fagan for the last three laps, but after some door banging between the two Hansen pulled away for the win. He was followed to the line by Fagan, Josh Daniels, Tim Bengard and Bryan Snell.
The IMCA Modifieds put on a flawless feature race, running all twenty laps flag to flag. For the third time in three races the pole sitter led all the laps as Josh Gilman found the checkered flag first. Gilman ran away from the field for the first half of the race, but young Nate Caruth settled into second place and began hitting his marks to try to run Gilman down. Caruth made some ground up, but it was not to be as Gilman picked up the race win. Caruth kept his second place run at the line, followed by Kent Crosky, Rex Parkison and Ron Bash.
Curt Ganoe paved the way in the IMCA Hobby Stocks, leading all fifteen laps from the outside front row. While the race for the lead was over, the action behind was exciting to say the least! Pole sitter Charles Belew and Tyler Pickett battled back and forth while Brandon Pruitt and John Watson made their way through the field from ninth and tenth starting spots, respectively. After a lap ten restart the four spots behind the leader changed place every lap for the rest of the race. Ganoe took the feature win followed by Pruitt, John Watson, Tyler Pickett and Nyle Godwin. Ganoe’s engine was claimed and exchanged after the race with Richard Yaw II.
For the first time the 6 Cylinder Front Wheel Drives made their way around the clay oval. The race would be fairly tame compared to the night’s previous features, but considering that this was the first night this class has raced at the speedway, all of the drivers did a great job. One who didn’t take it easy was Taylor Musselman, as he led all ten laps on his way to the feature win. Musselman was followed to the line by Casey Tucker, Justin Berry, Jacob Peters and Kyle Byrd.
We hope to see you next week for Sportsman's Warehouse Mid-Season Championships. We will have a candy throw so bring the kids and enjoy another night of side by side racing at the Stuart Speedway!
